My name is Louise Stephen, although professionally I am known as Louise Male.
I am a crystallographer, and have recently finished working at the Dipartimento di Chimica Strutturale e Stereochimica Inorganica at the University of Milan, Italy.
I have been married since August 2004 to Colin Stephen, who is a software engineer.
My parents, Allan and Rosalind, are both retired and enjoy caravanning, when they have time away from their many commitments! Like most retired people they seem to be busier now than they ever were. Dad is a governor at a large secondary school and Mom is a church warden.
I have two older sisters, Paula and Sarah. Paula is married to Mick and has two sons, Adam, who is 12, and Ryan, who is nine. She is a Branch Manager for a major international bank. Sarah is married to Phil. She is an assistant headteacher at a school for children with special needs.
I did my first degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Peterhouse, and then did a Masters at the UEA in Norwich. After that I moved to Bath to do a Ph.D with Prof. Paul Raithby.
